07:34 AM ET 02.22 | After the Heat's morning shootaround, Heat coach Pat Riley was faced with a quick-traveling rumor that his team was attempting to flip forward Shawn Marion two weeks after acquiring him from the Suns for Shaquille O'Neal. Linked to players such as Denver power forward Nene and Memphis guard Mike Miller, the Heat ultimately came up empty in its bid to move the expiring contracts of guard Jason Williams and forward Ricky Davis.

Wait til Marion finds out he's already being mentioned in trade rumors.

At least the Heat don't have to worry about him disappearing during any big games as there won't be any in Miami.

the only way J WIll & Ricky Davis should be traded is if u trade both J Will & Davis for Gilbert Arenas & trade Marion for Mike Miller & Rudy Gay.

February 22, 2008  12:06 PM ET

If ya cant get Arenas then trade J Will for Keyon Dooling & JJ Redick.

He hasn't even been there 2 weeks, and he's already in trade rumors. I agree with Matrix. Might as well go through with the trade now, or he's gonna be asking after this season.

February 22, 2008  06:55 PM ET

He won't need to worry about being traded next season as he can easily opt out of his contract.

February 22, 2008  07:44 PM ET

Skybill - any chance he opts out and returns to phoenix? or is the damage done? they might win a ring if they got him back......

The Heat are actually in pretty good shape if you know anything about basketball!!!! They are doing the 3 things you need to do in order to win a championship:

1. Develop your young guys

2.Shed bad /big contracts

3,High Draft picks(1-3)

Yeah the losing sux but you got 2 do bad before you can do good!!! Theyll have the #1 pick in the draft, payroll is lower, and Wade is still under contracxt for a couple more years plus he's playing hurt so theyll be better!!!

Gone after the season: JWill, RDavis,Parker,

Players who will be better: Wright, Wade,Quinn,Haslem

Payroll: Manageable

Now they can add some free agents in 2 years Wade will be in his prime they can get another one!!!

Theyll be fine!!!

February 23, 2008  12:08 AM ET

The Heat still don't have the pieces. There is no inside presence, and they still don't have a reliable jump shooter other than Wade. There is nothing worth developing among their young guys. The reason payroll is manageable is because they don't have anyone worth paying. The 1st step in the rebuilding process should be to get rid of Riley.

Donny,
it wasn't Wade though since Shaq is saying things now like Kobe's he best player and Nash is really unselfish, Wade having said Shaq has to motivate himself, maybe there is some animosity between the two, but I doubt it. Shaq hasn't mentioned Wade at all while Wade has said this is more like a family member leaving. But for sure it had to do with RIley's inept offense (as per Shaq and Riley's locker room confrontation where shaq stated that Riley's offense was crap and Mourning held Shaq back) and then Shaq being injured and miraculously being able to play after the all star game (which was just to make it look like he was injured. I mean would the Suns trade for Shaq if he was so injured. They could have traded Marion for many other players who fit their system better if they thought that was an issue). But BOTTOM LINE, the Riley probably has scared this franchise for many years to come especially since with all the cap, most top free agents will avoid coming to Miami because of Riley Famed practices, his yelling and put-downs of his players, his blaming his players, lack of offense and only preaching defense especially when players would like have a legacy for being great scorers also.
