05:44 AM ET 01.30 | The Mavericks have emerged as the front-runners for Jason Kidd. The Nets aren't happy that Kidd has gone public with his trade request, but only to a point. Kidd recently told friends that Dallas is his No.1 choice for relocation. The Suns and Nuggets reportedly have some interest, while Golden State has the kind of pieces that might compel the Nets to send Kidd back to his Bay Area roots.

Oh dang, I'm first?

January 30, 2008  06:50 AM ET

yes, you are chuckbhuge, but can you afford Kidd's contract?

January 30, 2008  06:52 AM ET

So would Terry or Harris be involved in this trade?

January 30, 2008  07:28 AM ET

Harris diop bass and a pick for kidd

My Suns don't have anything to offer to the Nets. Heck, with 19 million a year, no one has anything to offer with the Nets. He is stuck with them until the end of the season. Most likelihood is he will be traded in the off season involving draft picks.

19mil this year and over 20mil next year.... no one truly wants to pay that especially the Warriors. They never pay for talent!
Dallas could be the move that helps both teams

January 30, 2008  09:26 AM ET

Don't believe the hype. Dallas is not going to trade Jerry Stackhouse, Jason Terry, or Devin Harris for Jason Kidd, who's on his last legs and can't bring the offense that Dallas needs. Dallas doesn't have problems on offense, their problem has been defense and Jason Kidd doesn't fill that need. The only way it works is if Dallas' can con NJ into taking Eric Dampier.

hes not going to dallas. send him to denver for jr smith nene and another exp contract, plus a couple draft picks

January 30, 2008  10:01 AM ET

How is Kidd on his last legs? He is still a great passer, ball handler and rebounder for a PG. He could do wonders for Dallas, and I'm sure the would love to have him. HIs best option would be LA, as that might put them over the top. I don't think the LA thing is going to work, but it would be fun to see.

January 30, 2008  10:15 AM ET

When did the Suns become interested? I know the guy that traded him after his domestic issue is no longer with the organization but I can't see them wanting to bring him back. Especially at close to $20 million a year.

Suns? Would be interesting.. I still think Dallas is a good fit.

January 30, 2008  11:41 AM ET

The greatest need and best fit for Kidd would be the Cavs. Whether he and his wife could stand to live in Cleveland is another story.

Why would the suns take Kidd? They already have Nash.

If the Mavs can unload Dampier to look for another big man, yes.

I.M.O, Utah is a good fit and they have AK47 as a trading chip. (Kidd has to OK moving to salt lake city though)

Also Miami can use anything right now. That will never happen due to known reasons.

San Antonio should go for him. Parker is hurt and has been sucking bad this season. That won't happen, i know.

So Dallas it is.

January 30, 2008  11:53 AM ET

the mavs would have to give up terry, diop, stackhouse, and devean george for kidd. theyhave the money because after this season they wouldnt have to pay finlay and bradleys contracts anymore.

plus terry isnt good and choked even more than dirk in the finals. he missed ever open shot in dame six.

stackhouse, diop and george are all free agents at the end of the year so the nets will save some cap space to build for the future.

plus it would work financially for both teams.

Jason Terry and Dirk are both clutch and it was their clutch performances that got them to the finals in the 1st place. Miami had a lot of help from gambling officials in that Finals series. Getting rid of Jason Terry's 3 point shooting for Jason Kidd should not be on the table. Diop is better then Dampier. Plus Brandon Bass makes Damp disposable. Juan Howard is there too. However, Diop is worth the Jason Kidd gamble. Deveon George can go. But Jason Terry and Stackhouse? No way.
