Three teams to bid on Kidd

06:17 AM ET 01.29 | There is no longer any doubt. Jason Kidd wants out. No extension, no infusion of talent, nothing will satisfy the Nets ' star point guard, who yesterday acknowledged, "It's time for us all to move on." The Nets want Kidd in the West - his choice earlier this season was Dallas. The teams figuring to bid heavily are Dallas, Denver and Portland.

it would be exciting if he lands in Portland, the "other" evil empire will rise again.

we hear this story every single year and we all know whats going to happen in the end: he will be staying in new jersey!

What does Denver have to give up? It's not like their going to ship out Melo or AI. After that, it's pretty much Camby and maybe Martin. With Nene's uncertainty, I don't know that you want to be facing a stretch run in the West without a decent big man. Unless you're willing to have guys like Duncan, Stoudemire, Bynum, etc. scoring at will against you.

jason kidd to denver (deal works but would cost the nuggets a lot in luxury tax)

Nene Hilario, Eduardo Najera (exp contract), J.R. Smith (exp contract) to the nets could be done if nene is going to be ok although the medical situation will determine that. nets will also want a draft picks which denver will need to get from elsewhere

with kidd gone and having nene out will allow them to consistently lose games and put them in a position for a decent lottery pick

they will gain cap flexibility to use when they move to brooklyn

Good job 'winkstrap' Denver would be the best trade scenario. Dallas doesn't want to break up successful chemistry and Jason doesn't want to tutor youngsters in Portland.

i dont want to see Jkidd in a mavs uniform again.

portland would undo all there hard work in building a young roster capable of future greatness for a ageing star like kidd. they would have to give up some young pieces... which could potentialy ruin the young teams chemistry. and wat for kidd would make them a much better team but they still wont be a contender...
they are better of working with the young studs they have now keep using the draft well try to pick up some role players in free agency and become a championship calabre team in the next few years.

Perfect fit for The Hawks!

I think he will end up in Dallas.

It'll be Dallas but I'm intrigued by a Kidd/Oden/Roy/Aldridge line-up.

That lineup sounds good but I'm sure one of them would have to be included in the trade.

January 29, 2008  11:05 AM ET

i think he will end up in dallas but i have a sinking feeling that he may end up in Denver however denver should not give up Carmelo, AI or camby if they can keep K- Mart, even better

January 29, 2008  11:10 AM ET

There's no way Denver gives up AI, Melo, or Camby. K-Mart on the other hand is expendable.

January 29, 2008  11:23 AM ET

Ever since I have heard Kidd wanting to leave; I thought two spots would be best: Atlanta or Portland

Portland has some interesting pieces like Jack, Webster, and Frye along with Miles and LaFrentz's contract

New Jersey has to realize that unless they give up one of their three main guys.........THEY ARE STUCK!!!!!!!!!

January 29, 2008  11:23 AM ET

This is my last comment on this subject. KIDD IS STAYING IN NEW JERSEY. First of all, he says he wants to play for a contender. The last time I checked, Denver and Portland weren't quite ready to contend for a championship yet. Dallas doesn't need him, and noone else is going to mortgage their future for Kidd. It is possible if Thorn would be willing to except a deal like McHale did for KG, and that's not likely. Kidd rejected his chance for a ring when he nixed the opportunity to go to San Antonio.

January 29, 2008  11:23 AM ET

Boston needs to forget about Damon and go for Kidd. Could you imagine? That would be nuts. Money wise and position wise itr wouldnt work but its nice to dream.

January 29, 2008  11:28 AM ET

Prags,
Denver wouldn't trade Melo for the entire Nets roster and the next 10 years worth of draft picks. Get a clue homey.

Hllywd | 01/29/08, 11:23 AM

Sorry to disagree with you Hllywd but according to the story, Kidd himself said that he wants out. Now unless you have some other iside source who knows more about Jason than Jason knows about himself..........................

Also, in his interview yesterday, Kidd said he just wants to compete every night. He understands that a contender wouldn't be interested in gutting their roster to absorb his salary.
