07:15 AM ET 01.15 | For a few hours Monday, it appeared Alonzo Mourning had made the official announcement concerning his expected retirement. But the Heat was not ready to announce that one of the most respected figures in team history has finished his playing career. In an interview on the team Web site, Mourning said: "Yes. I'm retired. This is it for me." The Heat, however, said the report was premature and removed the Q&A. "A mistake was made and it's not an accurate story and it's been pulled, with our apologies," Heat spokesman Tim Donovan said.

Alonzo... please, leave the league already. I'll try to forget about you the best that I can.

Mourning said, "Yes, I'm retired. This is it for me." What part of that statment is the Heat saying is inaccurate? The guy is 38 years old with bad knees. Maybe the Heat want him for their title run.

Enough already! It's time to hang up the sneakers.

The Heat aren't looking for any more bad press. Mourning already said this was his last season and that this injury ends his season. 1 + 1 = Retirement.

The Heat just want to announce it at the right time.

Just retire. You're not really helping the team. Great person but its time to go Zo.

He isnt the offensive force he used to be but he can still board and block shots

It Mutombo can still play in the League so can Mourning if he decided he didnt want to go out due to an injury

Zo;

You were a great player with a great story....Time to let it go and let someone young and able have your roster slot...Don't let know one deny you a well deserved retirement which is also the smart thing to do...
