Moss discusses God, role models

08:50 AM ET 10.06 | In a Q & A posted yesterday on his Web site, therealrandymoss.com, Randy Moss revealed a side many in New England probably didn't know existed. He offered an intimate glimpse into his heart, and it painted quite an interesting picture. Moss, for example, brought a group of 42 children from his home state of West Virginia to Monday night's game in Cincinnati. "It was very important to me," Moss said of the annual event in which he pays for each ticket. Moss, who has two children, was then asked if he felt it was important for kids to have good role models. "I think that role models start at home," he said. "But at the same time, (it's important) to have someone else at another level - and it doesn't have to be a professional sports star - just someone else that the kids look up to, male or female. I try to be a good role model and do what's right. I don't live for politics. A lot of people in the spotlight live for the politics, but I'm one of those guys that doesn't. I have a strong faith and belief in God. I'm trying to live by the Bible and doing what's right."

Hopefully Randy will sit down with his coach and counsel him on Christian values and how they can apply to everyday ideas like fair play and good sportsmanship and situations like adultery.

Maybe he can teach them how to roll a blunt. Contrary to what will probably be popular beleif (because I'm a Bengals fan) It is not because I am bitter at my teams embarassing loss and early season struggles... I just don't think he is a good person and role model is all. I think he is an ****. Maybe if he had a track reocord similar of a Peyton Manning than I would take this garbage seriously. I assume I don't need to go into his past discretions here...

October 6, 2007  09:52 AM ET

Maybe he and Marbury worship together. This isn't the same guy that invited the fans to kiss his ****......or is it? Stay tuned. The real Randy Moss is coming up..right after these messages.

October 6, 2007  09:57 AM ET

Or maybe this cat has matured and he's got his act together.

Nah. What the hell am I thinkin'.

God to Randy: "aren't you glad I don't just love you when i feel like it..."

October 6, 2007  10:06 AM ET

I don't dispute that Randy Moss is one of the most talented (physically gifted) wide receivers... but until I hear him retract his statement "I play when I want to play"... I have no respect for him as a player or as a person. Great NFL players don't take plays off, or quit trying when their team is losing. Sure, he's happy and playing well in New England...but does anyone think they'd be seeing the same Randy if he was playing for the Rams or Saints???

October 6, 2007  10:10 AM ET

People can change. I don't know Randy personally, but he may have changed. How many of your are doing the same thing you were doing when you were 18 or 19? And didn't Peyton Manning get sued for some type of sexual harassment with a trainer at Tennessee? I'm glad to see all of have been perfect your whole lives...

October 6, 2007  10:15 AM ET

I'm talking about what randy did JUST LAST SEASON while playing for the raiders.

October 6, 2007  10:17 AM ET

No one is claiming they are perfect... where did you see that in the threads? Lighten up jj. Maybe he has changed, I just don't beleive it and I have the right to my opinion.

October 6, 2007  10:18 AM ET

God to Randy: "aren't you glad I don't just love you when i feel like it..."

Well spoken prozacgirl72.

October 6, 2007  10:32 AM ET

Give Moss credit for this as children benefited, and prozacgirl you are right on. Every time I hear Randy Moss's name that is the first thing I think of.

October 6, 2007  10:32 AM ET

Of course he's changed. He's changed form a cellar dweller to a championship contender in which he is the featured receiver. At the 1st sign of adversity, his true colors will be revealed. Pats fans should enjoy it while it lasts.

October 6, 2007  10:59 AM ET

I think he prayed for a better coach at Oakland, then left.Pray that your HAMEY holds up.

October 6, 2007  11:00 AM ET

Thank you Hllywd, we are enjoying every awesome catch of his. I think he's missed 4 of his looks in 4 weeks. I dont know what were gonna do if he decides to miss 2 a game.

October 6, 2007  11:36 AM ET

Ask yourself why is it eaier to believe all the bad things when a man does something so giving? Randy may not be perfect but neither are you...his interviewing skills are not good because he is so passionate about the game he loves, his delivery just needs to be worked on!! I give him credit for being man enough to say what he feels no matter how it's interperated, especially by the MEDIA MACHINE that likes to twist everything to sell articles...face it bad press sells more today than good & the comments by so many of you people on here are examples to prove my statement. I feel sorry for you all way more than Moss!!!

October 6, 2007  11:44 AM ET

SO being lazy at your job cause "eveybody else" is and smoking weed and being a big spoiled brat who gives up on his teammates is living by the bible. HMMMM ok Randy you spin it any way you want.

October 6, 2007  12:03 PM ET

Pats fan:

Did you feel the same way before he was on your side of the ball? I doubt it. And you too will feel differently when the "Real Randy Moss" stands up. Moss, T.O., Isiah, Zach Randolph, all have character issues. They just haven't manifested themselves yet. It's only a matter of time.

October 6, 2007  12:08 PM ET

THIS A MESSAGE TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE ON FANNATION : WE ALL HAVE SIN AND FALL SHORT. Randy Moss is human he made mistake like we all did. Randy Moss could had repented of his short comings in his past and God would forgive him for what he did and those things he did before would not be counted against him in God .

October 6, 2007  12:11 PM ET

I agree with some of the things being said, Randy has done some incredible stupid things as I have and I'm sure most people on here has, but there are things that change your life and make you wake up like religion, family, maturing etc.. Give him the benefit of the doubt maybe has changed only time will tell.
