Naslund ending retirement

07:30 AM ET 11.23 | Markus Naslund is the last guy who thought he'd be making a comeback. After stepping away from the NHL in May, the 36-year-old rarely thought about hockey and was plenty busy with the construction of a new house in his hometown of Ornskoldsvik, Sweden. But his plans started to change during a recent conversation with Peter Forsberg. The two old friends discussed the struggles of Modo, the local Swedish Elite League team, and felt compelled to try and help -- by volunteering their services. Just like that, Naslund was on the comeback trail.

Naslund still has the touch....I know he was on the radar of a lot of Pens fans over the summer.

How could he have been on the Pen's radar? he was still under contract with NY. He retired with another year left in his contract and saved them 4 million in cap space. Were you going to trade someone for him?

Sorry...I meant last summer (as in 2008). Coffee still hasn't kicked in.

A little slow? The Leafs' win against the Caps has obviously made you soft.

Comedian ur a toolbag...Naslund isnt playing in the Olympics, only for Modo. Forsberg, Naslund, and Sundstrom decided to play for FREE for their hometeam ...and to "get the boys back together. Here's a familiar quote for ya..."Get some FACTS, and come back and see me"

November 24, 2009  05:11 AM ET

and FYI, Forsberg is trying to get Dan Hinote to come play for MODO too. Another FYI, Forsberg and Naslund are long time friends, they grew up on the same street together when they were kids...so talking one of ur buds into playin hockey shouldnt be too hard. and how do I know this you ask......?

November 24, 2009  05:13 AM ET

I know this because my old man's (ULF) co worker (Leo) grew up on the same street as Foppa och Nasy....and is good friends with them....consider this INSIDER information.
