08:20 AM ET 11.21 | What started out as a fan-friendly gesture by defenseman Scott Niedermayer at the end of Thursday night's game ended with two men throwing punches, the video of which rapidly found its way onto sports shows and websites. Niedermayer had been trying to give his hockey stick to a young girl along the front row of one section at the Honda Center. But several adults grabbed at the stick, sparking the fight.

He skated over and kinda just tossed his stick over the glass then pointed at the girl. Not the brightest of move. It still doesn't excuse those quadruple morons who started the fight over it.

"Adults"? The L.A. Times is being too kind. Those folks are morons.

The guy was probably wanting the stick to sell on ebay. The girl will hang it on the wall and may even incorporate it in her wedding. Having raise a girl hockey fan, nothing would surprise me. My grandson has a puck that he got at a Blue Jackets game. It is a prized possession.

Probably. That toad sucker deserves to have the stick shoved all the way up his neanderthal arse.

so this is what it has come to...

Here's hoping the cops gave that idiot a little back-room vigilante justice!

What a beautiful world we live in, a sweet romantic place.

Where was George Parros when all this was going on?

That disgusting porker would find your suggestion a pelasurable experience! How about putting him on a spit and turning him slowly over some nice hot coals! And don't forget to put an apple in his mouth!

Why not? I consider myself open to suggestions.

Try at the beginning of the game when those guys were only half drunk, Scott. By now they would knock their own gramma down for a beer

There was beer in the stick? Hmmm! That would explain it! ;)

Maybe a good old fashion Hawaiian Kalua pig. That'll work too.

Not the brightest move? This happens all the time.

The fact that it happens often doesn't make it any less stupid, considering some of the knuckleheads left in the stands. The NFL fines players who throw balls in the crowd or even just hand them out to fans in the front rows for a reason.

There you go. We could have a luau.

Totally disgusting behavior no doubt. But alas, it happens in the other sports too. Look at how many fights start over a baseball.
BTW, did the little girl finally get the stick?
